On a weekend away with friends I rolled into Booborowie and pulled up at this great, off-the-beaten track and classically Australian establishment. Conversation with the publican soon came around to the sad and neglected state of the wonderfully original leadlight windows that graced the main entrance. I couldn’t resist, and for the price of a couple of hot lunches and cold drinks, I offered to restore the 5-piece leadlight door surround.

You see, whilst recognised by Channel 7’s Morning Show for having the weirdest name in Australia some years back, Booborowie is still a struggling little mid-north town.  Publican Alf is really trying to revive a sense of community in the area and has invested in a great outdoor entertainment area and a huge wood-oven where they make amazing pizzas!

So make the detour, pop in and say hi to Alf, and check out the restoration work that was affectionately known in the studio as the ‘The Boob Job’.
